TOA TV visit - Production of Te Hikoi Mahanga (part 3) 18th January 2008

Kaikohe  Car Club was contacted late in the afternoon on the 18th January 2008 by Toa TV ..... The film crew were traveling around Northland filming a TV series that will screen on the Maori TV channel later this year.

The story is based on two surfers; "TK" Te Kauhoe Wano & "Whare" Wharehoka Wano who  are traveling around Northland checking out the surf.

When the film crew contacted the Management committee they were in Opononi  and were on their way through to Whangarei; we were asked if there was anyway they could come and visit the famous "Kaikohe Speedway".

Of course we had to oblige..... Tony Taylor let TK out in 101k & Shirley Andresen let Whare out in 89k for a couple of rounds, (after they were told to stay away from the concrete walls or they would be fixing them); both guys looked a little nervous as we sent them out on the track .... but they were buzzing when they came in.

We then organised a couple of races and the cameraman man was sent out with Rhys Andresen 17K in a short race.

Uncle  Dave Cortesi played the part allocated and had a great time promoting the club (see pictures below).

Thanks to Tony, Max, Shirley, Rhys, George, Geordie, Anthony, Dave, Debbie, Jesse who made the effort to get water on the track and get some cars to the track...this was very short notice, we all had great fun and look forward to seeing the series when it screens. (TOA TV will be letting us know closer to the time).

This is the second film crew that has been to our track this month; on the 5th January (NBC round) we saw Papango Media, filming and out with Rex Roycroft 8D and Robin Grieves 82WR. Papango TV were working on a Northland promotional video.... we also hope to see this footage in the near future.

Kaikohe Car Club Inc. Management committee reconised this as good PR and promotion for our club and Dirt Track racing in general.
